The Riverina region has the Murrumbidgee River flowing as its lifeblood. The taming of this river with a series of weirs and dams has created excellent fishing opportunities in the slow, deep water of the dams/weirs and exciting fishing in the fast flowing, comparatively shallow sections.

Murrumbidgee River

Wagga Wagga – The fast water is ideal habitat for golden perch, the protected trout cod (which are regularly caught over 4kg) and is home to some massive cod.

Burrinjuck Dam – Golden perch school up in large numbers during the months of September, October and November, whilst Murray cod grow in number and size each year.

Berembed Weir – The snaggy waters both above and below Berembed Weir provide safe haven for a veritable carpet of cod. Berembed is a cod fisherman’s paradise.

Narrandera – The warm, slower water at Narrandera allows Murray cod, golden perch and trout cod to flourish.

Yanco/Gogeldrie Weir – The weirs provide deep water for all sorts of water sports and also provide perfect cover for giant cod to live and breed.

Hay/Maude – These oases on the arid Hay plain are home to large numbers of cod in excess of one metre. At certain times, daily multiple captures of metre long cod are common.

Balranald – The gateway to the Mallee is bristling with golden perch and Murray cod. Above the Balranald weir the water is still and deep making for ideal casting conditions where adrenalin charged strikes from cod makes anglers go weak at the knees (Extended trips only).

Murray River

Upper Murray – The fast waters interspersed with deep clear pools are ideal for lure casting for the river giants that hide in the shadows.

Hume Weir – Known for its springtime golden perch, this dam can produce trophy sized goldens when the conditions are right.

Corowa – The Murray above Lake Mulwala is home to a healthy population of cod.

Lake Mulwala/Yarrawonga – This iconic lake needs no introduction as it’s known as the cod fishing mecca of Australia. Small to medium fish make for an active day.

Mildura/Wentworth – Big water and big fish. Typified by few strikes when compared to most other locations, when you get a bite, it is usually from a leviathan of the deep. (Extended trips only)

Other Locations

Edward River - A well balanced system with good numbers of cod of all sizes and a strong population of golden perch.

Bundigerry Creek – A hidden gem near Narrandera with a wide variety of water conditions from fast current to deep still water all within a short drive.

Old Man Creek – A small, snaggy creek with a fish under every log. Some truly massive fish live in this skinny water, but due to the size of the waterway, it is shore based fishing only.
